Theatre Techniques and Creative Arts for Classroom Teaching Workshop

A unique opportunity to 20 qualified, inspirational, enthusiastic and passionate teachers to take part in our Theatre Techniques and Creative Arts for Classroom Teaching Workshop
Course Summary:
This course explores a range of theatre techniques that are highly effective when applied to the teaching of English as a foreign language. Attendees acquire a range of skills useful for developing a great group dynamic within the classroom as well as a pool of creative ideas to draw on. The course will also focus on various strategies and techniques to heighten effective communication within the classroom.

Target Audience:

Teachers with students of all ages and levels (primary, secondary and higher education)

Teachers who are keen to communicate some of the latest research and best practice,encouraging students to learn English and use it as a tool in their discovery of the world

Previous experience of drama is not required to attend this course
Workshop's Aim:
The workshop aims to provide participants with a series of theatre-based techniques that will allow them to teach more effectively taking a more creative approach. Additionally the workshop aims to energise teachers and offer alternative activities, strategies and approaches to teaching & learning.
The workshop emphasises the philosophy:
‘You tell me and I will forget. You show me and I will remember. You involve me and I will understand.’
and makes sure teachers leave with practical ideas for their teaching.
Workshop's Objective:
As a result of attending this course, participants will learn how to apply the following theatre techniques in the classroom:
- response to text through physicalisation, putting life into exercises
- creative play through controlled improvisation
- stimulation, tableau (still picture) and mask
- intonation, stress, rhythm and pauses for dramatic effect
- thought tracking and marking the moment techniques
- group co-ordination and trust exercises
- using the body to learn vocabulary and language structure
